BBA Scholarships

The Band Booster Association ("BBA") has established a scholarship program to assist eligible band students with private lessons, camps and instrument purchases. Applications are accepted in the spring of each year and are awarded based on criteria set by the Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship Guidelines:

The Naperville Central High School Band Booster Association (BBA) has created the Naperville Central High School Band Booster Scholarship to fund a limited number of scholarships for band students enrolled at Naperville Central High School and participating in an NCHS curricular (Concert, Symphonic, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble) or extra-curricular band (Marching Redhawks, Jazz, Pep Band, etc.).

Funds available for scholarships will be determined annually and will be based on monies received through contributions and fundraising activities by the BBA. The scholarship amount will be determined on the basis of a weighted average score from the following four categories: Volunteerism, Financial Hardship, Scholarship Essay and Musical Proficiency.

The application must be completed in its entirety and submitted by the posted due date for full consideration. The application must look professional -- neatness, grammar, spelling, etc. counts!

The decision to award scholarships is ultimately held by the Scholarship Committee, which includes Mr. Alstadt, Mr. Silder, a BBA Executive Committee Member and a BBA At-Large Member.

There are many factors that are a part of the scholarship award process. Nobody is guaranteed a scholarship; however, please strongly consider the following prerequisites when completing your application:

  • A desire to improve and become more proficient on your instrument.
  • A desire to grow in your love for music beyond the classroom.
  • Have you demonstrated consistent ensemble preparation?
  • Are you punctual and reliable for rehearsals, attendance and performances?
  • Have you or your parents volunteered for fundraising activities for the band program during the academic year (Concession Stand, Market Day, Car Wash, 50/50 Raffle, etc.)?

Scholarships May Be Used Only For:

  • Summer camp fees (concert/jazz/marching/double reed camp, etc.)
  • Private lessons during the upcoming year
  • Drum and Bugle Corps
  • Outside ensembles such as YJED, DuPage Youth Symphony, etc.
  • Instrument purchase

Scholarships are available only to students enrolled in a curricular or extra-curricular band at Naperville Central High School for the current academic year.
