From Mrs. Wlazlo:
For those who have contacted Ms. Wlazlo about an intermediate to professional upgrade of their
current horn, here are some suggestions:
Fox Oboe 333: $2,300 plastic - does not have all trill keys or the c# ketch - can
be purchased at local store
Fox Oboe 330: $2,700 plastic - has the c# ketch and all necessary trill keys - can
be purchased at local store
Patricola: $3,300 wood - professional model - can be purchased at WW&BW in
South Bend, Indiana
MCW Oboe: $2,895 wood - with c# ketch and all necessary trill keys - www.mcwoboe.com
- will be available in December 2004
Used Loree: $3,000 - $4,200 - used professional model like the one she plays on.
Good resale - a few oboe distributors carry them - has all necessary keys and trills including 3rd
octave and split d ring
Cabart: $3,600 student model Loree with all necessary keys and trills
Used Marigaux/Rigotaut/Laubin: $3,000 - $4,500 - see Loree, above
If interested, please contact Ms. Wlazlo directly.
INSTRUMENTS TO STAY AWAY FROM:
Buffet oboes - pitched at 442 so you will automatically play sharper, no matter
what
Linton & Olds - Junk in her opinion
Yamaha - good as a beginning horn
Selmer - beginning horn only
Fox 400 - She would prefer you choose the other methods before choosing this horn.
Similar pitch and quality to the regular Fox plastic horns but at a higher price
